DCLG gives money towards link road

The DCLG has given £12 million towards a link road to spur the regeneration of Queenborough and Rushenden on the Isle of Sheppey. The money, announced by junior minister Angela Smith last week, will fund the first phase of the Rushenden road, which will provide a route for commercial traffic and enable work to start on housing developments. A masterplan for the area is due to be submitted to Swale Borough Council in the next few weeks. Proposals include homes, commercial buildings, a marina, a primary school and community facilities.
