Review of areas that quality for funding to boost competitiveness

A review of areas that qualify for funding to help boost competitiveness has been launched by the government. The DTI will consult on the criteria that should be used to define assisted area status and the areas that should be included on the map, which was last revised in 2000. Cornwall, West Wales and the Valleys and the Scottish Highlands and Islands will continue to qualify as assisted areas due to their continued eligibility for European convergence funding.
