Vision to develop Hemel Hempstead launched

A vision for the development of Hemel Hempstead in Hertfordshire was launched this week, nearly 60 years on from its first new town masterplan. The Hemel 2020 document, developed by Dacorum Borough Council with residents, the business community and local organisations, comes just weeks after the Buncefield oil depot explosion and fire last December. English Partnerships and the East of England Development Agency are backing the project, which includes plans for a civic zone and town square, a performing arts venue, housing, shops and commercial development.
