Inquiry announced into future of coastal towns

An inquiry into the future of coastal towns is to be conducted by the Commons ODPM select committee, it was announced last week. The study will look at work done by the ODPM to tackle social, housing and environmental problems experienced in coastal towns. It will also examine the success of regional development agencies in supporting and developing coastal economies and whether there is a case for more regional initiatives. The deadline for written evidence is 30 January 2006.
