Funding has been secured to complete first phase of the East Kent access road

Funding of £18 million has been secured to complete the first phase of the East Kent access road. The money from the government will allow work to begin on the final section of the A256 upgrade between Sandwich and Ramsgate. Kent County Council said that the road will provide access for businesses and commercial development. Construction is due to start next month and scheduled to be completed next summer. The second phase to improve the A256 and the A253 between Richborough and Minster roundabout is yet to be approved.
