Plans to extend the port at Great Yarmouth set to go ahead

Plans to extend the port at Great Yarmouth look set to go ahead after the Department for Transport agreed to make a harbour revision order. This grants permission to develop the Eastport project, which involves building an outer harbour for roll-on roll-off ferry terminals, passenger services to the Netherlands and berths for cargo ships. The £38 million scheme is expected to create around 1,000 jobs and attract 120,000 additional visitors a year to the region. Work is due to start in around 18 months' time.
