Grosvenor gets Crawley town centre redevelopment

Grosvenor has beaten three other developers in a contest for the £500 million Crawley town centre redevelopment. The company was chosen last week by Crawley Borough Council over Capital Shopping Centres, Land Securities and Westfield. The 14ha site to the north of the town centre will feature a major department store, expected to be occupied by John Lewis, and 65,000m2 for other shops. More than 400 homes, offices and a town hall are also in the pipeline. Work is expected to start in 2007-08, with the first stores open by 2010-11.
