Government should adopt wider definition says Barratt

The government should adopt a wider definition of social housing, according to house builder Barratt. Chief executive David Pretty said this week that levels of affordable housing could be increased by introducing a social category of homes for sale at substantially discounted prices aimed primarily at key workers. "House builders would contract to sell a proportion of their homes below market value, allowing key workers to realise their home ownership ambitions," he explained.
