JMP to develop strategy

A community transport strategy aimed at tackling social exclusion, transport co-ordination and sustainability issues in Sunderland is to be developed by JMP Consulting. The project for Sunderland City Council and the Tyne and Wear Passenger Transport Authority is expected to be completed next month. It will form part of the government's Tackling Social Exclusion Through Transport initiative, which attempts to help people who lack car access and public transport provision. JMP will carry out an audit of existing transport choices to determine the access needs of communities and develop an action plan for improvements.
