City academy to be developed in Greater Manchester

A city academy specialising in business and enterprise in sport is to be developed in Greater Manchester after Salford City Council approved plans last week. Salford City Academy will open on the site of Canon Williamson School at Peel Green near Eccles in September and will initially accommodate 750 pupils. Construction of an academy building will begin in 2007. Turley Associates acted as consultant on the project, which has been designed by Aedas Architects for United Learning Trust.
