Design and implementation of pumping station in Norfolk

The design and implementation of the replacement St German's pumping station in Norfolk is to be carried out by Atkins for the Middle Level Commissioners (MLC). The appointment follows Atkins Water's completion of feasibility and option studies for MLC and the production of a formal application to DEFRA. The Atkins team will develop a modern, architecturally significant station with a design life of 80 years to replace the existing facility, which is one of the largest pumping stations in the UK. The £35 million redevelopment will involve up to four separate contracts and is scheduled for completion in December 2008.
