JMP Consulting to assess

The impact of potential developments on the A1 western bypass and local roads around the Gateshead MetroCentre is to be assessed by JMP Consulting. The area is viewed as an important location for development, but Gateshead Council and the Highways Agency want to ensure that schemes do not add to high congestion levels. The study will feed into the development of the Gateshead unitary development plan and the Tyne and Wear local transport plan 2006-11. JMP will assess traffic flows and congestion and suggest access improvements to potential development sites. A costed programme of measures will be drawn up to help relieve existing or potential problems.
