Developer launches High Court challenge

A developer hoping to build a 14-storey block of 70 flats in Old Trafford, Manchester, launched a High Court challenge this week against the council's decision to adopt a policy that hinders the scheme. Lowry Properties was refused permission to develop the site between Warwick Road and Montague Road on design grounds. But by the time it resubmitted its plans Trafford Metropolitan Borough Council had adopted a development restraint policy. The developer wants the judge to rule that the council was wrong to adopt the policy. The hearing continues.
