Public transport-based smart card scheme has been assessed

The feasibility of a public transport-based smart card scheme in Kent Thamesside has been assessed by consultancy MVA and the ALCO Group. The study for Kent County Council examines whether such a system could be implemented on the Fastrack bus-based transit system. Fastrack aims to link major development sites and communities across Gravesend and Dartford and their rural hinterland. The council believes that a hi-tech travel payment system would make public transport more attractive given the extensive employment and residential development planned for the area.
