East Cowes vision to be unveiled

A 15-year vision to transform East Cowes on the Isle of Wight is to be unveiled at a public exhibition next week. The first phase of the project will see the town centre revamped with a hotel, housing and shops. A town square will be created with traffic diverted to make the centre more pedestrian friendly. The second phase involves redeveloping the waterfront with a 320-berth marina, maritime heritage centre and boat museum. Red Funnel's marshalling yards will be relocated north of the town in the final stage of the scheme, which is led by the South East England Development Agency and the Isle of Wight Economic Partnership.
