Growth plans for the Thames Gateway

Growth plans for the Thames Gateway were boosted by a £47 million funding pledge by the ODPM to expand a combined university campus in the Medway towns last week. Based at Chatham Maritime, the facility will provide the skills and learning opportunities needed to create sustainable communities in the growth region, according to planning minister Keith Hill. The campus, home to the University of Greenwich, will be used by at least four other universities and will see student numbers rise from 2,700 to 6,000 by 2010.
