Casebook: Appeal cases - Housing: new build - Homes ruled out of character with historic city

A proposal for 12 dwellings in St Albans has been ruled unacceptable on the grounds that the three-storey buildings would not be in keeping with adjacent lower-rise development. This would be compounded by "fussy articulation" of the principal elevations of the dwellings and detailing that would be in contrast to the character of properties in adjoining streets, the inspector decided.
