In brief: FoE warning on Thames Gateway

Plans to maximise the potential of the Thames Gateway threaten to push the region beyond its natural limits, Friends of the Earth (FoE) has warned. The campaign group claims that the vision published by the Greater London Authority, the South East England Regional Assembly and the East of England Regional Assembly (Planning, 27 August, p2) goes far beyond catering for the area's own needs. It would increase demand for water supplies, land and transport infrastructure and threaten people's quality of life, FoE claims.
