Regeneration brief: Sheffield package secures reprieve

A regeneration package for Sheffield city centre has secured a last-minute reprieve after a hotel chain pulled out of the plan. Councillors approved an amended scheme for a mix of bars, restaurants, a hotel and housing on Leopold Street last week. Developers Ask and Gleeson will pay for the property in instalments and the council will receive the full value of the building when work has been completed. A proposed health club and hotel will be replaced with restaurants after the hotel chain pulled out and the number of flats will be increased to 42.
