IN BRIEF: Government-sponsored community planning initiative

A government-sponsored community planning initiative is due to be launched by RTPI president Mike Hayes next week. The government is giving the RTPI £4 million over three years to set up or improve a regionally-based, nationally co-ordinated system for community planning. In the South West this will build on the existing planning aid service. Hayes will launch the initiative during a trip to the West Country, where he will visit areas with examples of successful community planning.
