BUSINESS BRIEF: Planning professionals asked for their input to a study

Planning professionals are being asked for their input to a study of the relationship between transport services and the communities they serve. The project, conducted by the Transport Research Laboratory (TRL), will review international and domestic approaches to community severance. TRL hopes to broaden the definition of community severance to include not only the physical separation of residents from services but also the psychological effects of traffic and its influence on quality of life and social cohesion. The project will run until May 2005 and is being carried out on behalf of the Department for Transport. For further information, please e-mail ejames@trl.co.uk.
