Civic Trust chief executive Martin Bacon has been appointed as managing director of the Ashford's Future Partnership, the body tasked with implementing the growth area plans for the Kent town. Following Bacon's departure, the trust will be managed by a board of senior staff including head of programmes Ben Bergonzi, head of policy development Paul Davies and head of corporate affairs Diane Smith. Nigel Burton, director of development and services at Waitrose, has joined the trust as deputy chairman. He will provide strategic guidance and help to develop and strengthen relationships with local authorities, central government and the private sector.
