CASEBOOK: Appeal cases - Housing: new build - Homes plan judged overbearing and harmful

A scheme for 37 houses on two fields allocated for development in the Gower area of outstanding natural beauty (AONB) has been refused because of the overbearing impact of one of the plots on adjacent dwellings, thereby undermining the living conditions of existing residents. The inspector made a partial costs award to the appellants due to the council's failure to substantiate its claim that the scheme would adversely affect the character of the AONB.
