The latest project in a programme designed to boost the economy of a remote Northumbrian village was opened by rural affairs minister Alun Michael last week. Rivermead in Kielder contains six workshops for small and light industries. The programme also includes the conversion of a redundant village school wing into England's first five-star youth hostel.
