NEWS IN BRIEF: An energy-efficient university building ...

An energy-efficient university building in Milton Keynes and a converted workhouse in Southwell, Nottinghamshire, are among the schemes shortlisted for this year's Royal Institution of Chartered Surveyors building of the year award. A total of 41 schemes from around the world have been selected from more than 160 entries. Past winners include Cornwall's Eden Project and the site of the 2000 Olympic Games in Sydney, Australia. This year sees the introduction of a community benefit category, which includes London's St Anne's Churchyard and Newcastle's Stepney Bank Stables. The winner in each of the four categories and an overall victor will be announced in May 2004.
