Passivhaus self-build home rejected as unsustainable

The environmental benefits of a new vernacular dwelling constructed to ecofriendly standards on orchard land in an area of Herefordshire without a five-year housing supply were found insufficient to outweigh harm to rural character, pedestrian connectivity, highway safety and a priority habitat in a modest hamlet close to a larger village offering a range of facilities and services.
