County council gives go-ahead to Notts shale gas exploration proposal

An energy firm has been given the go-ahead to drill up to two exploratory hydrocarbon wells at a site in the East Midlands after planners found that the site-specific benefits of the proposal outweighed its 'temporary significant effect' on a nearby Site of Special Scientific Interest (SSSI).
