Planning can't escape from politics, by Angus Walker

On 11 December the government decided to request more work on the three shortlisted new South-East runway options rather than endorsing, to a greater or lesser extent, the final recommendation of the Airports Commission that it had appointed. This is a stark reminder that you can't take the politics out of planning - and I don't think you should try.
