The Peak District National Park Authority has appointed John Scott as director of planning. The position is a newly created post, replacing the head of planning services. Scott returns to the park authority, having left in 2002 to join the private sector as a consultant. He worked for the National Park Authority from 1986 to 2002.
Consultancy WYG has announced a number of appointments and promotions within its planning and environment team. Catherine Phillips joins from Roger Tym & Partners as a senior planner based at WYG's Wellington office. Martin Brown joins WYG as a principal archaeologist and will be based at the consultancy's Bristol office. Matthew Allsopp joins WYG as planning and design assistant, based in Southampton, while Graeme Smart joins as principal ecologist and will be based at the firm's Newcastle office. Max Plotnek has been promoted to the position of associate.
Law firm Blake Lapthorn has appointed Sara Hanrahan as a specialist planning partner in its real estate department. Hanrahan joins from law firm Winckworth Sherwood, where she was a partner.
Planning lawyer Iain Johnston has joined North West-based law firm Brabners Chaffe Street as partner. He joins from SGH Martineau in Birmingham where he headed the planning and environment department.
Suzanne Asher and Lorraine Davison have joined planning and design consultancy Barton Willmore as senior planners in its Manchester office. Davison joins from consultancy DPP, while Asher's previous experience includes roles at Jones Lang LaSalle and the Co-operative Group.
Consultancy Phil Jones Associates has appointed Mike Edwards as principal consultant to its Birmingham office, where he joins from Halcrow. The firm has also appointed Annabel Keegan as associate and Adrian Forte as consultant.
