Cardin, who heads up DJD's Birmingham office and also leads its planning and development team in the city, plans to work closely with current Birmingham Forward chair Jackie Hendley before taking over the chairmanship in the autumn.
The announcement is due to be confirmed along with the other nine board members at the business organisation's annual general meeting on 30 June.
The proposed nine new board members include Alex Bishop, deputy senior partner at lawyers Shoosmiths, and Matt Taylor, director at Headline Communications – both former chairs of the body’s young professional arm Birmingham Future. Peter Rees Steer, recently announced as Birmingham Forward chief executive, will also join the board.
In addition to his role at DJD, Cardin is also chairman of the Colmore business improvement district.
Cardin said: "As a serving board member of Birmingham Forward for many years, I have seen how important it is for the business and professional services sector to have a strong collective voice within the city and beyond and my commitment to Birmingham Forward will continue to fulfil that role very forcibly."
