Further funding for new council housing in Scotland has been unveiled by the Scottish Government. The £9 million of funding - together with £17 million announced in April - will enable 17 councils across the country to build 1,343 council homes for rent, it said. The London Borough of Newham has chosen developer Bouygues Development and its consortium partner social landlord One Housing Group to develop plans for a new town centre on a 6.5ha brownfield site opposite Canning Town station. The regeneration project includes plans for 1,100 mixed-tenure homes, retail and office space, leisure facilities and a supermarket.
Glasgow City Council enters partnership

Glasgow City Council has entered into a partnership with developer Firthport to redevelop a site at Clydestreet/Bridgegate, where both partners own land. Firthport has proposed the construction of a hotel with adjoining water-based facilities, including a floating bar and restaurant, and a new pedestrian waterfront area.
